Magill FFL: Third Week, 3 Undefeated
By Ken Magill
It’s three weeks into the Magill Report Fantasy Football League and three teams remain undefeated division leaders: Return Path, e-Dialog and TowerData.
Return Path Rage was this week’s top scorer, riding strong performances by Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to beat Message Systems’ MS Destroyers 166.1 to 104.64.
Meanwhile, despite a 46-plus-point day by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees for the Spamtacular Bastards, e-Dialog’s e-D’s TDs beat the Bastards 129.24 to 103. e-D’s TDs leading scorer was Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rogers, who put up 40.64 points in a Monday Night Football contest against the Chicago Bears.
The TowerData Techies were able to overcome miserable performances by their running backs—Chicago’s Matt Forte who scored 4.3, and Detroit’s Jahvid Best who put up 3.9—to beat PL Marketing’s Orchard Lake Warrior 137.1 to 123.7.
StrongMail’s Orange Crush recorded its first win this week, beating Harte –Hanks’ Heroes by a score of 109.64 to 86.04. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick’s 43.64 points put StrongMail over the top in this matchup.
StrongMail’s and Harte-Hanks’ records are 1-2.
Permission Data extended its record to 2-1 by beating the Yesmail Raiders 113.64 to 92.48. Permission Data’s leading scorers were New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning with 23.64 points, Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson with 29.5 and Philadelphia wide receiver DeSean Jackson with 27.1.
The Pontiflex DUMBOs moved to a record of 2-1 by beating the ArcaMax Blasters 103.58 to 68.26. ArcaMax was hurt by, among other things, a terrible outing by a San Francisco 49ers defense that has failed by a long shot to live up to expectations this year.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see ArcaMax hit the waiver wire for a new defense this week.
Author’s note: To those who are 3-0, don’t get too comfortable. To those who are 0-3, don’t be discouraged. In fantasy football, anything can happen. I once went 6-1 only to lose every remaining game.
