Magill FFL: Uh, Oh: The Wife Creeps Up On Division 1

10/25/11

By Ken Magill

This is getting bad.

The wife’s Rivet This! Beat the NetAtlantic TidalWave this week 118.74 to 81.04 putting her on a three-game winning streak.

The win gave her a winning record for the first time this year, leaving her at 4-3 in Division 1.

Division 1 leaders the TowerData Validators and Spam Primavera both lost this week, putting their records at 5-2.

Also in Division 1, Message Systems MS Destroyers and FreshAddress’s The @men won, leaving their records at 4-3.

As a result, three teams are tied for second in Division 1 at 4-3 and two teams are tied for first at 5-2.

Can you say: “Up for grabs?”

What’s more, the wife plays the TowerData Validators next week. A win in that game would pull her even with at least one of her division’s leaders—TowerData—and that much more in contention for a possible playoff spot.

But that’s not going to happen, right TowerData? This week’s loss was just some crazy fluke, right? The season’s still young and her luck’s about to run out, right?

Remember: Wife winning the championship equals publicly humiliated Magill. When it became clear she would win this week, the wife and son began plotting exactly what would be shaved into my head should she win the championship.

But it’s a long season and that’s not going to happen, right?

In any case, TowerData lost to Message Systems 114.64 to 139.36. Spam Primavera—run by Adam Mihalik, a marketing analyst for a really big insurance company I’m not allowed to name—lost to the Pontiflex DUMBOs 71.46 to 112.16.

The DUMBOs’ win kept it in first place in Division 2 with a record of 5-2.

Though NetAtlantic lost this week, it remains atop Division 3, also with a record of 5-2.

Meanwhile, Return Path’s RP GOLIATHS clocked in a second win this week, beating Zrinity’s Email Lightning 134.6 to 68.1 Return Path’s record is 2-5. Email Lightning’s is 1-6.

Harte-Hanks Heroes improved its record to 3-4 this week with a win over PL Marketing’s Orchard Lake Pirates 101.14 to 75.02.

The Pirates record is 1-6.

Harte-Hanks is tied with the Spamtacular Bastards for third place in Division 2, just behind second-place e-Dialog’s e-D’s TDs whose record is 4-3.

Anti-spammer Mickey Chandler’s The Spamtacular Bastards lost to FreshAddress’s The @men 103.76 to 142.94.

e-D’s TDs held on to second place in Division 2 by beating Omeda’s Oh My! Omeda 121.52 to 80.04.

Omeda’s loss left its record at 3-4 but the team is still in second place in Division 3, two games behind NetAtlantic.

No one’s got a lock on their division yet and a lot can happen between now and the end of the fantasy football season.

Message to TowerData: I’m expecting great things from you this week, yes? With three wins in a row, the wife has been paying me back for 10 years of insufferableness. I would like it to stop, please.
