Magill Report FFL 12: To the Victor Goes the Trophy ... and the Meat
By Ken Magill
As usual, they loved the trophy, but it was the meat football that drew the oohs and aahs from the good folks at eWayDirect.
I drove to Connecticut last week to deliver their spoils for having won the Magill Report’s third fantasy football championship in what turned out to be the most exciting season yet.
To recap, powerhouses Return Path and TowerData were surprisingly knocked out of the playoffs, leaving the eWayDirect Avengers to play Movable Ink’s Inkredibles in the championship.
The managers of both teams had had a hand in managing last year’s champion: The Pontiflex DUMBOS.
What is more, the manager of eWayDirect’s team, Jarret Lewis, reported to the manager of Movable Ink’s team, Jordan Cohen, at Pontiflex.
Unfortunately, Lewis and Cohen like each other so there wasn’t the added entertainment of a bad-blood grudge match.
In any case, eWayDirect took an early lead and then had to watch Movable Ink chip away at it. However, Movable Ink came up just short, losing by a fraction of a point.
One more pass, one more catch, one less fumble and the outcome would have been different for the Inkredibles.
But let’s talk about what’s really important: the Magill Report Fantasy Football League Championship sweet Lebanon bologna football from Dietrich’s Meats in Krumsville, PA (Mmmm. Mmmm.).
A Dietrich’s Meats Lebanon bologna football is truly champion worthy.
For those who have never been exposed to the wonderfulness that is Lebanon bologna, it is a cured, smoked, fermented, semi-dry salami-like sausage available throughout Pennsylvania as a lunch meat.
It originated with the Pennsylvania Dutch and was named for the Lebanon Valley of Lebanon County, PA, where it is most commonly produced.
It’s great with mustard and, believe it or not, truly amazing with peanut butter. Ask the folks at eWayDirect. They have now been Lebanon bologna enlightened.
Here are some photos of the celebration.
