Ninety percent of 1,000 people in a recent survey said they check their email “compulsively,” including first thing in the morning, just before bed and during meals and conversations, according to mobile email client developer My.com.

According to the admittedly self-serving study, 46 percent of respondents said they spend more than an hour a day reading emails.

Seventy four percent of respondents said they check email first thing in the morning, according to My.com. Also, 48 percent said they check email during lunch; 27 percent said they check email during dinner; and 8 percent said they check email after sex, according to My.com.

Most email users also have more than one account, according to My.com. Thirty three percent of respondents said they have only one account, while 27 percent said they have three or more, according to the survey.

Also, 60 percent of those surveyed said they have lost important messages because of spam and 64 percent said they have closed accounts because of spam, according to My.com.

The study was reportedly conducted in April.
