Pontiflex DUMBOs Take Magill FFL Championship!
12/27/11
By Ken Magill
After a see-saw battle that was far from decided until the end of last night’s game between the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons, The Pontiflex DUMBOs beat The NetAtlantic TidalWave 129.96 to 123.9.
As a result, the DUMBOs have won the championship in The Magill Report’s second fantasy football league season.
At a date to be determined, Pontiflex will be presented with a beautiful lead crystal championship trophy and a delicious regulation-sized, football-shaped sweet bologna sausage from Dietrich’s Meats in Krumsville, PA. (Mmmm. Mmmm.)
The good news (for me) is Pontiflex’s office is in Manhattan, a short train-and-subway ride from Magill Media’s world headquarters in Central Valley, NY. So the award presentation will amount to a short day trip for yours truly.
The bad news is I have to find something to fill the Magill Report’s fourth story slot until the 2012 football season begins.
Oh well. Less drinking, more writing.
Meanwhile, NetAtlantic ended up surprisingly in second place after going into the playoffs with a record of 7-7. Going into last night’s game it even looked like the TidalWave might even pull off an upset.
However, New Orleans’ defense performed just well enough to give Pontiflex the win. Congratulations!
In other news, the TowerData Validators beat FreshAddress’s The @men 114.14 to 110.7. The teams ended their seasons in third and fourth place, respectively.
Message to everyone who is not the Pontiflex DUMBOs: Thanks for playing and better luck next year!
Sometime in August, invitations for The Magill Report 2012 Fantasy Football League will go out to all the teams who participated in the 2011 season. They will have right of first refusal.
If any of 2011’s teams declines to play next year, open slots to newcomers will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis after the league is announced.
Editor's note: For all the non-New Yorkers on this list, DUMBO is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.

Thanks for allowing us in this year Ken. Your league was a lot of fun for us here. I wish we had better season.. but just like our beloved Chicago Cubs and Bears.. We can't wait until next year.
